Gian Maurizio Argenziano founded Arventia Group* in 2006 (www.arventia.com). Previously, he served as member (MD) of the global PE committee of ABN AMRO Capital (2.8 bn euro invested in ca 50 Cos worldwide), ceo of ABN AMRO Capital S.p.A.(450 mln euro), chairman and ceo of Eptaventure S.p.A., MD in GE (Heller Financial) and advisor in Andersen (Accenture). Based in Milan, Gian Maurizio has sat on multiple portfolio company boards and led a number of different teams of investment professionals worldwide. 
Graduated with honours in Economics at the University of Pavia, professor at the Master in Investment Banking of the LIUC University, Gian Maurizio has a 25 years track record in over 80 managed companies (verified by EY). Past Chairman of the Tax&Legal Commission of AIFI (PE&VC Association), where he has been a board member for over 10 years, he is director in some of the Arventia Group's subsidiaries, indipendent advisor/director in PE investors and a member of the Liuc University Master steering committee. Gian Maurizio is registered with the UK FCA for the CF1 and CF30 controlled functions and "dottore commercialista".

* The group owns interests in healthcare/medical devices (www.effeemme.it) mechanical engineering (Nadella Gmbh) and private investment management. MCP Srl acts as General Partner of Arventia S.p.A and selected FOs (www.arventia.com).

2006, to-date, owner and ceo at Arventia Group* (“AG”, www.arventia.com).

Between 2001 and 2005, executive member of the European Engagement Committee of ABN AMRO Capital (AAC), the private equity division of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. with ca. Euro 2.8 bn portfolio under management. In that period, the division realised 26 investments and 22 disinvestments in continental Europe and UK, and managed the US, South American and Australian portfolios. In the same period, Gian Maurizio served also as C.E.O. of ABN AMRO Capital S.P.A, the exclusive advisor of ABN AMRO Venture N.V and ABN AMRO Italian PE Fund N.V. (the “Funds”). Between 2002 and 2005, the Funds acquired majority interests in 5 Italian companies investing more than Euro 250 million (equity), and exited 3 investments (AAC also acted as portfolio manager for 6 investments previously acquired in Italy from ABN AMRO Venture N.V.). Gian Maurizio has been involved in emerging markets operations as board member of portfolio companies.

Between 1997 and 2001, President and CEO of Eptaventure S.P.A., the P.E. arm of EptaFund SGR (today part of IntesaSanPaolo), an asset management company with (the equivalent of) Euro 12 bn under management. Following the new 1996 legislation, Eptaventure S.P.A. raised the first P.E. closed-end Fund and executed 8 investments and 2 exits in the period (mostly controlling interest in SMEs).

Between 1991 and 1996, managing director at Heller International Group (HIG, Heller Financial Corp – Chicago) and GE Capital (after the 1995 GE take-over of Heller). Gian Maurizio performed the start-up of Heller’s PE operations in Europe (Germany, France and Italy). From 1991 to 1993 HIG acquired controlling interests in 7 European SMEs, 6 of which sold between 1994 and 1997 by Gian Maurizio under a portfolio management agreement with GE Capital.

Between 1985 and 1990, PE Investment Manager at IMI Group (today part of IntesaSanpaolo). Among the deals sourced and managed from 1987 to 1990, the first management buy-out in the food industry (sold to United Biscuits of the UK for 6.5X).

Gian Maurizio has begun its career in 1984 as corporate advisor in Arthur Andersen Consulting (today Accenture).

Education

Laurea in Economics and BA “cum Laude” at the Università di Pavia (MBA equivalent) in 1983. Business executive education programs in US, UK and in other locations. Professor at the Master in Finance of the University of Castellanza (LUIC, and a member of its steering committee) since 2001. Visiting professor in other universities (including the MIP master program). Author of university research papers/publications. “De Mattè” Prize first and fourth edition winner.

Associations

Between 1996 and 2006 member of the board of the National Private Equity Association (AIFI), where he was President of the Tax&Legal committee. Gian Maurizio is registered with the UK FSA for the CF1 and CF30 controlled functions. Dottore commercialista and revisore dei conti (authorized auditor) in Italy.
